Are you Qualified? Understanding New Jersey's Qualifying Questionnaire requirements
New Jersey requires all agents to complete the online Qualifying Questionnaire upon license renewal, license reinstatement or upon reactivation if your license has been inactive for 45 days or more. In the words of the New Jersey Real Estate Commission:
The renewal or reinstatement of your real estate license is dependent upon you successfully submitting your own online questionnaire (for the appropriate licensing period) to the Real Estate Commission (REC). This includes Brokers of Record (including Employing Brokers), Brokersalespersons, Salespersons, and Referral Agents. No paper questionnaires will be accepted. Until the questionnaire is completed, you will not be able to be hired by a Broker.
N.B. This requirement also applies to SLWRERCs (salespersons-formerly-licensed-as-referral-agents).
The NJ Real Estate Commission offers instructions that can be somewhat overwhelming, but it’s simple enough to just login and complete the online form. If you don’t know your pin, click the link that say “I forgot…” and you will automatically receive a new pin via the email you have on file.
Here’s an idea of what you might see on the Qualifying Questionnaire:
